How did the band Mihara come about, and what is the brief history of the bands you were in before?

Hare Krsna!

We started playing our music late 2004, founded from the streets of Golden City Subd., City of Santa Rosa, Laguna, Philippines. Consists of 4 members Me Bhakta Jay on bass, Bhakta Beda on Vocals, Bhakta Roblin on drums and boogie on guitars, and we play Krsnacore and Posi-Hardcore influenced songs.

How did you get involved in Krishna consciousness, was it through the hardcore and straightedge scenes?

Yes the punk/hardcore scene here in laguna is the reason why we get involved in Krishna Consciousness, our brothers in scene xDivided We Fallx introduce us to this Eastern Philosophy and they keep preaching us until the 3 of us get into KC. xdenciox and xramilx always remind us who Lord Krsna is and how to Love and serve Him.

What is the opinion of KC within the scene there?

The scene here is very open with Krishna Consciousness bands because they deliver postive message and I think that’s what hardcore scene all about, spreding message from love, respect, unity and serving the Supreme Personality of godhead.

Are many people interested in the drug free lifestyle
in your country, and has this helped to spread
spirituality there?

There ae many people interested in this drug free lifestyle but the problem is they don’t know how to give up their attachment with there vices, Ive known many people who try to practice Vegan/Vegetarian, SxE Lifestyle but they all falldown because they don’t have a spiritual basis in what they are fighting for. Preaching here is very fast because many people here are attracted with our Prasadam. :)

What is the opinion within ISKCON there of spreading
the message through your music?

Some of ISKCON devotees here in the Philippines are involve in Skate & Punk/Hardcore Scene, everytime we will be having a show they are trying there best to show there love and support for the band and that’s one big help for us because they can see that even if we are devotees of the Lord we are still approachable and they can see that the Lifestyle of the devotees are non-differencial with there lifestyles, we just add more spice in it, chanting and following principles but all in all it’s just the same, simple living, higher thingking.

What do you think are the problems of teaching KC in
the hardcore scene today?

I think the problem of teaching KC in the hardcore scene today is some of the devotees who don’t follow the instructions of Srila Prabhupada, devotees who do not practice what they preach, for example I have a friend who is interested in KC and asking me questions about the principles and I insists to him/her that meat eating is a sin but me myself consuming meat he will not believe what I preached to him/her, just like a father who is always telling his son to quit smoking but he himself smoking, I think that’s wrong because we have to be a good example to others.

Lastly, where do you see the future of Krishnacore
going – do you think it will become popular again like
in the mid 1990's?

I hope so, there is nothing impossible in Krishna’s name, but we are really praying for this to happen.
