BIOGRAPHY

Towards the end of 1993 the cultural centre of Milan becomes a place of many young people with a visceral love for hardcore. An interest in vegetarianism expands to an interest in spirituality and becomes an oasis that allows to people to meet, discuss and to know themselves. At this point Sanatana has the idea of giving life to his plan to make music and to speak about topics that are at the heart of the people. The G.H.C.P is born - GOVINDA HARDCORE PROJECT.

With the aid of friends and collaborators at the end of 1993 comes out a demo-tape “A Spiritual Cry”, that has seen an enthusiastic response in the Italian HC scene.

Seing the keen interest for the demo provoked them take the opportunity to become more stable and to begin to carry the band to the stage. The formation takes shape with Sanatana to the guitar, Alex (Advaya) on vocals, Mox on drums, Fede and Diste From Sottopressione on second guitar and bass. With this formation, the Govinda Hardcore Project play their first concerts and write new songs.

It is at this time that Mauro Zola (at that time director of Dynamo) proposes to the group to release a mini-CD through Vacation House Records. In the December of '94 GHCP record in two days songs that see the light in 1995 entitled “The Best of the Two Worlds”. The CD gains appreciation in the world of hardcore and obtains great magazine reviews.

Fede and Diste leave due to the the pressing engagements with the Sottopressione band and are replaced with Silla (SHAA) and Max. The live performance proceeds though carrying the GHCP to several venues and social centres including an unforgettable lunchtime gig at the university of Milan, where Alex gets the microphone and attacks without compromise the society only based on the importance to make money.

After a gig with Shelter in March of 1996 at the Rainbow, Mox is replaced on drums by Seba, who has great enthusiasm to join the band. They continue playing live and writing new material which could have been the next release. However, sadly Alex and Silla have to leave Italy for a indeterminate time.

Thus the Govinda Hardcore Project held their last gig in January of '97 at the C.S. Eterotopia in San Giuliano and although desirous of recording the new songs, sadly part though leave a legacy of great experiences.
