IN AN IRON AGE, SO MERCILESS
FILLED WITH CONFUSION AND DISTRESS
TO YOU I TURN, TO YOU I TURN
YOU´RE MY ONLY MEANS OF SALVATION
MY ONLY HOPE FOR LIBERATION
WHEN WILL I LEARN, WHEN WILL I LEARN?
THE SOUND THAT SETS ME FREE
NO MORE PAIN
RECLAIM IDENTITY
I CALL YOUR NAME
BEEN LET DOWN SO MANY TIMES
BUT WHAT DID I EXPECT TO FIND?
IT ALL FADES, IT ALL FADES
FOR LIFETIMES I´VE TRIED TO IGNORE
THAT YOU´RE THE LOVE I´M LOOKING FOR
TO YOU I PRAY, TO YOU I PRAY
I CALL YOUR NAME
WITH ALL HUMILITY
PLEASE TAKE ME BACK
PLEASE HEAR MY PLEA
THE SOUND THAT SETS MY MIND FREE
THE LOVE THAT SETS MY HEART FREE

(THE SOUND THAT SETS ME FREE)

I CAN´T BE KILLED, THOUGH TRY YOU WILL
TO TAKE MY LIFE
AND I STAND AND LAUGH AT ALL YOUR WRATH
AND THREATS WITH GUN OR KNIFE
I AM SOUL
I AM INDESTRUCTIBLE
I AM IMPERISHABLE
MY BLOOD MAY SPILL, MY BREATH MAY STILL
BUT I´LL FOREVER PERSEVERE
DESPITE ALL ATTACKS AND FIGHTING BACK
I SHALL KNOW NO FEAR
AND YOU CAN NEVER KILL ME
TO KNOW NO DEATH IS TO KNOW NO FEAR

(INDESTRUCTIBLE)

ONE DAY
I´LL BREAK THESE WALLS OF FLESH AND BONE
ONE DAY
ESCAPE THIS PRISON SELF-IMPOSED
YES ONE DAY I´LL BE FREE
TRANSCEND ALL BOUNDARIES
YES ONE DAY I´LL BE FREE
ONE DAY
I´LL OVERCOME CONDITIONED MINDS
ONE DAY
LEAVE THIS INSANITY BEHIND
THESE CHAINS
MY OWN DESIRES
BUT I´LL BE FREE
GROWN SO TIRED
FROM WORLD TO WORLD I´VE ROAMED
MUST SEARCH HIGHER
FOR THE PLACE THAT I CALL HOME
ONE DAY
I´LL JUST LET GO, JUST LET GO
ONE DAY
GIVE TO YOU MY HEART AND SOUL

(ONE DAY)

BIOGRAPHY

Adepts of the East Coast straight-edge scene need no introduction to Porcell, former guitarist for the legendary Youth of Today, leader of Never Surrender, and head honcho at the newly formed Fight Fire With Fire label. Maturity can do interesting things to a punk rocker, especially one of the straight-edge persuasion: Porcell still believes in the Credo of the Scene and preaches it proudly, but his conversion to Krishna consciousness and his recent status as father of a small child have had something of a deepening influence on his lyrical outlook. Instead of simply screaming about sellouts and cigarettes as so many of his compatriots are content to do, Porcell tends to scream lines like "I call your name with all humility" and "One day/I'll break these walls of flesh and bone." The band's no-frills, guitar-bass-drums setup and lockstep precision are the perfect foil for Porcell's hoarse roar. In addition to its five tracks, Never Surrender's debut EP also features interviews and live video footage on a CD-ROM track. Recommended. – Rick Anderson, All Music Guide
